Brick Attefall House – Architecture in a Compact Form
This project explores how strong architectural identity can be expressed within a very compact footprint. The building is modest in size, yet precise in intention.
The dark brick façade gives the volume weight and permanence. Subtle tonal variations in the brick create depth and texture, while black aluminum frames and detailing unify the composition. The simple pitched roof reinforces the clarity of the form.
A generous glazed façade opens the interior toward the garden and pool, dissolving the boundary between inside and outside. Above the folding doors, a horizontal band of clerestory windows introduces soft daylight and balances the façade’s proportions. The contrast between the vertical glass divisions and the horizontal brickwork creates a quiet architectural tension.
Inside, the elevated ceiling enhances spatial experience, allowing light to move freely through the space despite its limited area. The project demonstrates how scale does not limit architectural ambition — proportion, material, and detail define the experience.
GRS Arkitektur developed the full technical documentation for the project and acted as project manager throughout the construction process.
